Long, rambling moving post if you're interested

I don't really have any pictures but it's worth documenting that in between the insane-ness that was our July, we spent a week moving. It's actually really miraculous and awesome how it all worked out. Once Collin took on the new job he's going to be working at this year (Jerome Middle School V.P. and A.D.), we knew we were going to seriously try to find a different house to live in. First of all, the house we were in was S.M.A.L.L. It was sort of ok with the 3 of us but when Elan came along it was claustrophobic. Babies have a lot of stuff! There was absolutely nowhere to put him while I was in the kitchen that was safe, really. The floor plan was really enclosed and narrow and disjointed, not the best for a mom with 2 kids to keep track of. Plus Lucy kept getting ticks from the yard, YUCK! And also our neighbors were more than a little annoying--obnoxious little kids whose trampoline was literally right out our kitchen window, they were out there at all hours of the day/evening looking into our house, shouting at Ashlyn (not meanly, but I don't know, it felt like an invasion of privacy), and then being loud into the later night. Plus the adults were not friendly AT ALL. Needless to say, we were hoping we'd find a bigger, more desirable place.  Also, the couple we were renting it from were itching to move back in. They had been texting us once or twice a month from like March-on asking if we knew whether we'd be staying or not this summer. Their new job in Boise hadn't worked out or something, so they'd moved back to Jerome and were just living with family, waiting to move back into their house. We were getting the feeling that they probably wouldn't even let us renew our lease if we ended up not finding another place. Great, THEN what would we do?? So, the pressure was on to find another place! Unfortunately, we're talking about finding a decent place in JEROME here!

We scoured the neighborhood weekly for rental signs, and also scoured facebook (which is a big fat joke, looking for anything decent in Jerome!!!!!). I finally put a little post about us looking for a new place in the neighborhood on our ward facebook page.... ah the magic of facebook! Word got through the grapevine to a newly retired couple in our ward who were planning to move to Denver (of all places) this summer to help out a son in med school for a couple of years. They knew they wouldn't be able to sell their house for what they wanted in this market, and so they called us up out of the blue asking if we'd like to rent it. Insert angels singing!! We couldn't believe the luck. Or blessing, truthfully. The house is double the size of the one we were in. DOUBLE! It has a front room perfect for a piano studio, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a huge open kitchen/living room area plus a formal dining room that we use as a playroom, and a bonus room upstairs. They have a really nice yard they've taken good care of and even a big garden. And, wait for it... a sprinkler system! First time we've ever had one! So needless to say, we upgraded like 1000%. Only downside is it's a little discouraging to be "renters" at this point in our lives, after being homeowners for 7 years already. But alas, it is what it is and I think of it as a huge blessing to have a comfortable living space, right in the same neighborhood (meaning Collin has a 5-minute WALK to his job this year.).

Anyway, moving SUCKED of course. I was in Denver the 4 days previous to moving day, how's that for fun. I didn't pack or prepare ANYTHING besides getting stuff down off the walls. Monday we boxed some things up and that evening ward people (like 30!) came and helped move furniture. Tuesday my awesome mom and sister Andrea came over for the day and helped us move everything else. We got a pretty good system going of one or two of us over at the old house putting stuff into bins and boxes and loading cars, and the other two at the new house unpacking stuff. We got it all moved out by Tuesday night, wahoo! Then Wednesday....after 2 exhausting days of nonstop work.... came cleaning the old house! Ugh! I hadn't done ANYTHING in the way of cleaning before we moved. So lame. I really hadn't had the time. So Collin and I took shifts all day long of cleaning over there. So fun. That was all day and late into the night Wednesday, and then Collin finished up the patching/painting Thursday morning. The walk-through with the landlords was Thursday evening. They gave us our full deposit back, nice!! That was nice. It was nice to be totally done and out of that old house. But man oh man it was SO much work to get "settled" that week! I was up late every night unpacking and putting things away, and working on it as much as I could during the day! Collin too! Saturday we hauled bum and got the ENTIRE garage organized and put away--I am super proud of that! We were able to park our cars in it by the next day, woot woot! Saturday I also blitzed and unpacked/ set up almost the entire piano studio. I would have loved doing that (so nice to have my own studio space again!) if I hadn't already been unpacking/organizing every spare minute that week! So yeah, it was a long, tiring week. We knew the next week would be super busy, so we worked hard. We got it liveable and it was nice to have the majority of the moving stuff over with. Someday the rest of it will get unpacked and organized too! I'll post some pictures someday too.
