Ok, I know I am being biased but I really think my little one is the cutest little stinker in the world. And that's not even "biological pride" talking because I didn't give birth to her! So . . . it must be true! ha ha.
Anyway, she's 15 months old now! WHA?!? Where has the time gone? Specifically, the naptime? (meaning, naptime always goes by WAY too fast!) Anyway, we just went to the doctor a couple days ago for her checkup and he thinks she is doing so great! She is always such a charmer when we go there, always giving her big cheesy smile to everyone and talking so much, they love her! (isn't that part of the doctor's office's job though? Make you feel like you are so important and have the cutest kid ever?)
Here are what her stats are: 21 lbs. 10 oz. (50th percentile)
34 1/2 inches tall! (well over 100th percentile!)
So, she is tall and skinny! I was so annoyed that she has lost weight since she was 12 months. I feel like my life revolves around getting her to eat. But apparently it's pretty normal. And she's only down 1 pound so not too bad. I was so surprised to see how incredibly tall she is though, I think she just grew an inch in like a week, because all of a sudden last week her shirts all seemed too short!
Anyway, she is at SUCH a fun stage right now! I know I keep saying that, but it's true! I wish I could just freeze every moment (ok not EVERY moment, the tantrums I can do without) of her cuteness to remember. It doesn't help that she is basically impossible to photograph right now, due to a combination of her constantly being in motion and my crappy camera and video cameras! So these are the best I have gotten lately! It's sad!
She still loves bathtime, although suddenly washing her hair is like I am torturing her. She will grab my arm and thrash and seriously scream bloody murder the entire time. I feel awful but well, not awful enough stop washing her hair! And we only do it like every 2 weeks!
She also learned how to get into the kitchen trash recently. It was fun. One day I found her sucking on a lemon peel! She thought it was so great until she bit off a little piece and actually got the sour taste. Then she had a good cry. I bought a new trash can a few days later, with a lid that clicks shut!
She LOOVES when she finds Collin's Camelbak sitting around. Even if there is no water in it she will sit and suck on it for ever. Yes, she still has that oral fixation apparently!
This was just a picture of her in her adorable rain coat. It is so funny when we go outside and it's raining. She doesn't know how to handle it! She thinks she is getting suffocated or something. She starts gasping and looking around all confused. And also, what she has in this picture is her absolute favorite toy ever, my keys. She loves the taste of metal! Sick, in my opinion! Her other favorite chew toy is Lucy's leash. She will wander around sucking on the metal clasp for a really long time. To each their own . . .
As you can see, we recently had need to install better child-proofing in our house! We had installed some cheap-o latches and such for some of the cupboards in the kitchen, and they stopped her for a while. But they soon broke and she figured it out, so we busted out the heavy-duty stuff you get at Home Depot! Now all the kitchen cabinets, the sewing machine cabinet (ha ha like it ever gets used anyway), and the bathroom cabinets have them. And let me tell you it is heaven, because at one point I almost tore my hair out after putting away ALL. THE. POTS. AND. PANS for the 800th time in 1 hour.
...Not that I don't think it's ok for her to play with the pans, it's just when there was no latch I couldn't even see my kitchen floor because it was covered! And now we have such sturdy locks on the cabinet with the cleaner I feel better anyway.
I had a lot of piano events lately which meant I kept bringing home BALLOONS! Ashlyn hasn't really figured out much fun to do with them yet, but she does think they are so fascinating! She would just crawl over to them and point at them and say "oooh!" over and over. So cute. And she kept getting tangled up in this particular bunch of balloons, so there would be this bobbing bunch of balloons moving all over our house, with a kid attached! It was funny.
She is still a blanket girl, I don't think we're getting out of that one. But I don't mind, it could be worse. Lately she will wander into her room and get her blanket from her crib and then bring it out and snuggle with it in the living room or wherever. Here she is doing with Daddy what he does best on the weekends . . . laying around watching TV! ha ha.
We took little chubbers swimming a couple of weeks ago at my gym. I had never gone in their pool ever, in the like 5 years I have worked out there. It was pretty decent. It is so weird that, for loving bathtime so much, she is such a huge chicken when it comes to swimming. It takes her forever to even be ok with having her feet in the water. But then again the bathtub is not in a giant, echoey room either.
She likes to put her hand over her mouth and go "a-ba-ba-ba." so funny. And this other picture is just so funny to me!
Ashlyn's big new accomplishment is WALKING! She literally just started walking at church about a week and a half ago, during Sunday School. I always just hang out in the back of the gym with her and she crawls around, but that day, she had a big puffy dress on, and I guess it finally clicked that it was easier to walk! I had never seen her take more than like, 3 steps at the most, and she started taking more than 10! It was so crazy! And then during the whole next week, every day she would walk more and more. It was funny to watch the process. By now she pretty much walks everywhere, although she does still crawl. I don't mind at all because with going outside so much I would rather she walk! And all her cute little pants were getting ruined!
Now that it is sunny outside most days she really likes to stand at the back window and look outside. Especially when there is a sprinkler on. She just points and "ooooh!"'s and squeals if she sees Lucy. She always has long stories to tell me too, it will be fun when I can finally understand them!
Ashlyn is really into "helping" me these days! Whenever I open the door of the dryer she can her it from wherever she is in the house, and she comes as fast as she can! She has never actually crawled inside it, but she does like to lay across the door! Another way that she "helps" is that as soon as I put an article of wet clothing into the dryer, she pulls it out and onto the floor as fast as she can.
She is also a magnet to the dishwasher! I don't ever let her play with it because I am not cool with her touching the dirty dishes, but when they are clean and I'm unloading it she gets to have some fun. Although I just about died when I turned around and saw this the other day:
Yes, she had climbed up ONTO the door of the dishwasher. Holy cow. I promise I was inches away when I took this picture. She is like a foot off the ground! So, we won't be doing that anymore.
Here she is with her blanket just hanging out while I work in the kitchen. She snuggles it to her face and sucks on her tongue.
Did I mention how stinking cute she is?!?! I think this is the closest thing I got to a smiling picture this month!
Now that she walks around, it's so funny because she seems to feel the need to come back and "check in" with me every few minutes. Especially if I'm sitting on the floor, she will go do her thing but then come right back to me and snuggle with me for a minute, then leave again. I don't know where this came from but I don't mind it! She has not ever been the clingy type so I'll take what I can get! (and my favorite part of the picture... the dead dog on the right)
Now that we actually go out in the backyard she thinks it is HILARIOUS when one of us is on the opposite side of the door from her. Collin didn't get a great picture of this but a second before, both her and Lucy were standing there looking in at him. When someone's on the other side from her, Ashlyn will knock on the door and then shout excitedly and bop around. It's so funny! I get to see it every day when I water the lawn. She's like, "Wow! Look Mom! I'm inside! You're outside!" This is glass! I can still see you, but I can't touch you!" WOW!"
And, she loves the tramp. She used to be super sketchy about it but she has figured out how to bounce herself! And she thinks it is so funny!
She is doing so many cute things right now. She still claps WHENEVER someone says "yay" or she hears applause. She can play patty-cake and peekaboo, and loves them. She is trying REALLY hard to figure out the "eensy weensy spider" thing! She can make animal noises for a snake, dog, tiger (my favorite), lion, sheep, monkey, and owl. She says "daddy" like a champ and some sort of "na-ma" mish mash for Mommy. She says "dandy" over and over whenever she sees a baby or a picture of a baby. She says "WOW!" in a low growly voice if she sees something really cool! Whenever she is walking and falls down she says "WHOA!" and then gets back up. She has mastered the little sign for "more" we taught her and uses it whenever she is hungry or wants more of something. She has a big air-conditioner box sitting in her room, and she loves to sit in it and look at books. She loves to snuggle with soft stuffed animals in her crib lately. She still LOVES to look at books or have them read to her, and she also loves to watch TV when she gets the chance. She also loves to brush her teeth, she says "ahh" when I say it and lets me brush her bottom teeth--never the top ones! She likes to say "hi" and wave, and also "bye-bye" or "night-night." with a wave. It is so much fun hanging out with her, and I think it's exciting all the fun things we will get to do this summer! Love you babykins!

You need to send me videos of her talking! All that sounds soooooo cute! And to think that I won't see her for another 2 months! :( Oh well.
Also, your green and brown dress in one of those pictures is really cute! Did you get it on our H&M shopping spree? You bought way more things than me so I don't remember. :B
What a little cutie! I had so much fun reading this post! I remember feeling the same way with Bradyn, that each stage just got better and better! What a fun age! :)
Great post! Ashlyn is growing up so fast, crazy. How funny she all of a sudden decided to take more than 3 steps at church. Super cute! She is a cutie for sure, 15 months has flown by. I know what you mean about freezing time. Every stage is so much fun, so happy you are enjoying it all.
She is growing up way too fast! SO CUTE.
