September 24th marked our 5th anniversary!
Back when we were first married, some friends who had been married over 20 years gave us a great idea--to plan each year's anniversary around a letter of the alphabet, going in order A-Z. The best way to do it would be to switch off planning years, so you can see who can be more creative. We've sort of done that, but have also done a lot of just planning together. (I know, for ALL 5 years.)
Here is what our alphabet letters have been:
Year 1- Anniversary Inn
Year 2-Biking (in McCall)
Year 3- Cascade (Ashley Inn)
Year 4- Downtown (Grove Hotel)
And as for this big Year 5--the letter as you know was supposed to be E, but we couldn't think of anything or anywhere around here worth doing really that started with an E. We were originally planning that we would be heading to Argentina about our anniversary time for a big mission reunion trip for Collin, which doesn't start with E but who cares? It's Argentina. Sadly, we ended up having to cancel on that trip due to Collin's school, and other expenses that came up. But I think we have been blessed for making that frugal decision.

ANYWAYS.... So what we ended up doing for our 5th anniversary (which we actually celebrated a week early due to the last few weeks being extremely insane) was:
Eating out in Eagle (at Mai Thai) --we had some Egg Rolls. :)
Then we had a wonderful stay at the Anniversary Inn! Since we were compensating for our lost Argentina Trip, we went all out and got the nicest room--Romeo and Juliet! It was great. We felt very spoiled and with everything crazy going on, it was so nice to relax and feel like we got away for a little bit.
The next morning we had a late checkout and then headed downtown to the 8th Street Marketplace. (do they still call it that?) We bought some cute little things for Lucy (I know, I know) and then, tacky as it is, we headed back to the Anniversary Inn for a tour! I totally always forget to go check out that place during the tour hours. But the rooms are awesome (and some very hilarious), so we went back to wander around and check out the others. We left satisfied we had the best one! Although there are some other great ones too. If you haven't ever checked it out you should! If for no other reason than to marvel at the creativity.
We then headed to the Dickinsons to get Lucy (thanks again guys!!). That night we spent some time at the Hyde Park Street Fair (Collin's wrestlers were doing concessions)--oh, I mean the Pot Smokers' Street Fair. Seriously, not our crowd! Too many hippies for my taste I guess! I don't get a kick out of breathing in smoke everywhere I turn. The highlight was I hit up a Scentsy deal and stocked up, so at least I left happy! We then got a free pizza at Dominos and watched the BSU game. Good, good weekend!
And Collin, thanks for the best 5 years ever. We've been through a lot and you put up with me a LOT, but I love you more than ever and I'm thankful for the support we give each other. I love you!
