My Top Pics--Part 2!

TONYA (and Collin)'S FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT BOISE:
(once again in no particular order . . . and I'm not trying to be Best of Boise here!! It's personal opinion!)
Just stuff we think you should check out if you ever come by.
1. Winter Garden Aglow
This place rocks. The Idaho Botanical Gardens do their own "mini-temple square" thing at Christmas time, but with delicious cider and cookies! It does cost to get in, which is a downside, but we have enjoyed going many years to this. It's a fun tradition.

2. Simplot Hill
Classic landmark, I know. But if you haven't ever ice blocked or sledded or rolled down this hill you have missed out on something. Collin even rode down it on a mattress once!

3. Greenbelt
I have deeply bonded with the greenbelt lately! I used to think that Idaho Falls was the only place with a cool greenbelt, but I now think that I like Boise's better! Mainly because it's so much longer, and spreads through most of the city. You can get on it anywhere and go as far as you want. I used to bike to BSU on the greenbelt, I have walked/rollerbladed/run on the greenbelt countless times! It is my new best-running-friend!

4. Train Depot
Okay, I'm not like a huge fan of this place but it IS really cool to see. The landscaping on the hill down in front of it is the best, I plan on having family pictures taken there someday! Plus you can see it from really far away. I have fond and semi-hilarious memories of playing "Mission Impossible" or whatever you want to call it--trying to make it from the Depot down to the Capitol without being caught, and even fonder memories of this being a favorite makeout point at one time . . . ;)

5. The Morrison Center
Even though I went to school in the building attached to this place for 4 years, I still get really excited every time I actually get to go see something at the Morrison Center. It is such a nice fancy place! I do have lots of memories of sitting through BSU orchestra concerts to get concert-class credit (you music majors understand what I mean!), but also of performing in the big BSU Holiday Concert there, AND even fun things like Miss Idaho, Riverdance, and Into the Woods! It makes me feel a little Classy goin' in there!

6. Table Rock
Although I'm not a "religious cross" fan myself, hey it's better than there being a sign that says "I love Satan" or something, right! Anyway, this place also has a fab view of Boise, day or night. I have hiked up there a few times, or driven, and gone in summer and winter. We've even eaten cheesecake up there once! You never know what weirdies you will run into, that is for sure.

7. The Mall!
Well I would not be true to my Whittier Form if I didn't say I love the mall. I do! I'm a mall lover! And apparently everyone else in this town is too . . . on a Saturday. I worked in the mall for about 3 years and still do occasionally . . . Can't say I've been much lately but it is such a fun place. And yes, I do love the Cheesecake Factory which is attached to the mall possibly more than the mall, but that is for a different post.

8. BSU . . .
I do not ONLY love BSU Football. In fact, I am really not much of a football fan at all, but what I do love is the atmosphere of the games, before during and after. It's fun that the whole town gets so excited, and that you can't find a parking spot on campus for like 3 days before the game. Here in the Robertson house . . . we support all BSU athletics! Might I say, we even support WRESTLING more than football. But that's okay! We've got an all-american wrestler living here! I guess what I'm trying to say is . . . BSU football (and other sports!) is a must-have for this place, it's a lot of fun and definitely Boise-Only!
And I do have tons of great memories of football games here! What a shame that I actually have to pay for tickets now. Seriously students, milk it while you can.

9. Boise River! I am a big fan of floating the Boise. I don't know why I like it so much. Just because all you need is a swimsuit and some sort of flotation device. It can be an inflatable whale, a raft, a pack of noodles tied together, or my personal favorite, my black $5 Wal-Mart tube I bought 6 years ago! Collin just floated on it last week! It is one amazing $5 tube. I can't believe it has lasted so long. Anyway, what is wrong with floating the river? Nothing. It's relaxing, (depending on who you're with!), fun, you get a tan, and Collin gets to do a back flip off the orange bridge.

10. Bogus Basin
Now that I am finally getting better at snowboarding, I heart this place! Yes there are way nicer ones out there, but Bogus'll do just fine for me for now! Plus it's like 40 minutes away. You can stop at Hawkins Pac-out on your way up for some greasy burger-and-fry energy food, and then at Merritt's for a scone on the way home! Wow, writing this almost makes me look forward to winter! (almost)

11. Art in the Park
Free commercial for them!! It's this weekend and I am so excited about going. Collin and I have probably been to Art in the Park every year since we got married. (wow, 4!) It's just a ton of art vendors and that good ol' fair food you can only find at big events like this. It's at Julia Davis park and is free! There's always lots of fun stuff to look at and millions of people there. We like to pretend we're some sort of art critics as we walk around--just watch, you will do it too!
So there you go.... sorry this list isn't as entertaining as the other . .... I know I forgot some stuff but oh well! At least now I have documented some of my Boise loves. Any others?

Remember all the memories we have of floating the river? How Kristy almost died once, and how Collin's tube blew up after the first rapids so he just ran most of the way while we floated on? Ah the memories. . maybe the weather will still be nice enough so we can do it when I come out there in a few weeks. .
