. . . That this Internationally renowned concert pianist, who came to Boise for an amazing event, --the Treasure Valley Music Teachers Associations' Spring Music Fair-- would turn out to be one of my all-time favorite people??
Andrew Armstrong--check him out at his website www.andrewarmstrong.com because he is amazing!!! Can you believe I spent the weekend with this guy??
Our weekend was the culmination of our entire year as the TVMTA board. This is us: me, Program Director, Juli, President, and Andrea, Secretary. With Mr. Armstrong, of course. WHO insisted on us calling him Andy!
Collin was such a great support throughout the entire crazy weekend... love you honey!
Anyway, so we had 6 different themed recitals throughout the weekend which were run American Idol style, the audience got to vote and the winner won $20. So fun, and the recitals were absolutely fabulous. There are some great young musicians in this valley.
This crew + Collin and - Ray and Andrea, headed out to Old Chicago after the big concert. I think Collin and I got home around 1:30. What a blast, is all I have to say. And we left while the party was still going. Like I said, he brings out a fun, hilarious side of everyone. So down to earth and funny! We all made a fabulous new friend and were absolutely in awe of this guy's talent, as well as the fact that our huge year-long-planned event finally happened, successfully!!
I love these ladies! Andrea, who is organized enough to run a small country, counted how many emails we had sent just pertaining to the Music Fair (yes, she saved every one--like I said, could run a country here)--386!!! We died laughing about that. I am not even surprised. But it all paid off--we pulled off a fabulous event. I never thought I'd see kids (members) of the boys and girls club sitting spellbound at a classical piano concert. We can only hope we changed some lives and inspired! Thanks for all you do ladies, you're amazing! And can I just say, I am still totally celebrity-crushing on Andrew Armstrong! That might last for a while!!

WHO insisted on us calling him Andy!AA (*Andy*) arrived Fri night--did a great master class Saturday morning, then came to lunch with a few teachers who were able to come--
Saturday night was the headlining AA concert--Juli was amazing in arranging a free concert at the Boys and Girls Club. Who ever thought they'd walk into the gymnasium at the B & G club and see a Steinway Grand sitting on a stage??! Not me! It was a life-changing concert. There were TONS of kids there. By far the most kids I've ever seen at a piano concert of any kind. AA was absolutely wonderful at playing a program that kids actually enjoyed--who knew kids (and we're talking Kids-elementary age and up) could or would sit through Liszt, Chopin, and Mussorgsky, spell bound, without making a peep?! Once again, not me! They loved it! And of course even us musicians (lowly as we are compared to such a phenomenal artist as AA) were spellbound. wow, this guy is special.
And did I mention he is hilarious?!?! Not only is he one of the most amazing pianists I've ever seen in concert, let alone met in person, but he had us literally rolling on the floor laughing with tears streaming down our faces. About normal stuff too, not just musician jokes like you might think!
