The long-awaited pics from Portlandia.... I was a big-time loser in the picture department on this trip.
For example, when we first got to town (after a fun afternoon with the wrestlers at the Holiday Inn Express.... those little cookie vultures! --ask me if you want the whole story but they are definitely entertaining little guys.), we met up with my old roommate/friend Andrea and her husband Dan. We at ate a fabulous restaurant HUBER'S and had fun walking around the downtown Porrtland area. Any pictures for any of this? nada.
When we've been in Portland before we've always driven/walked by Powell's but have never gone inside.... holy cow it is amazing. I think we spent like 2 hours in there. I love bookstores anyways, but this was a bookstore that takes up an entire city block! wow.
They have a whole section just on chocolate. Chocolate! I had to get a picture with that.
The next day Collin was in Battleground coaching all day so I got Andrea and Dan all to myself. It was fun to catch up with them. The weather was awful so once again I didn't get many pictures. We did a lot of fun things, weather-allowing. We rode a ferry across a river... stopped at a fabulous bakery (where I did take pictures--something about beautiful food just inspires my inner photographer I guess), drove by some other great sights, and then spent some time shopping.
More wonderful bakery treats...
Andrea and I. We were reminiscing about how funny it is that we ever even met in the first place. I was desperate for a place to live in Boise before I first moved over here to start school. I mean, it was like 2 weeks before school started. And miraculously, Del (piano prof) happened to have the inspiration to give Andrea my number (she lived in Nampa at the time). We got hooked up to be roomies... best thing Heavenly Father ever did for me! (well one of them) We had a blast living together, and it was so fabulous to have a good friend in the music department. Andrea graduated (same degree) 2 years before me, but we ended up getting married just one week apart! Anyways.... I heart Andrea!
Collin finally met up with us after a long day of coaching. Did I mention it was Dan's birthday? It was. They had some other friends over for dinner also. It was fun meeting some other Portland-ers. Here we all are late at night before we finally headed to bed. Don't we all look full of energy!
So pathetic but true... this was my only shot of downtown! We're driving over a bridge! I took it Sun. morning on our way to Battle ground. Just ignore the fence and it's actually a cool view. ;)
