I will post more about our July in a little bit....but I am in the mood to waste time (not unpack) so I thought I'd write a little note to send into the internet. Today is our first full day living in Jerome. Yikes. Just joking. I guess if I need to experience new things, living in a small town is definitely going to help me with that. I have never lived more than a 2-minute drive away from a gas station or even a grocery store. And now here I am! Moving went super awesome. Moving is never awesome, and I was so dreading all the work it would be. But we had tons of time to pack. Like, too much time. With neither Collin or myself working for almost 2 months up to our move, we were able to get everything really organized and well packed in plenty of time! We even got the house all cleaned up and renter-ready before we left, so we wouldn't have to turn around and come back to do it. We moved over 2 days.... Monday evening was the "men come haul everything out" party and thankfully we had a TON of help. Mark and Lise Hansen brought over dinner for us, and lots of friends from the ward and even a few of Collin's old college wrestling buddies and assistant coaches came to help. I don't think anyone had to do a ton of work since there were so many people there. An awesome guy in our ward who used to work for UPS loaded the truck. At a few moments it seemed like there was no way all our stuff would fit. But he made it work somehow! It was kind of amazing. I tried to make sure I sent everyone home with an icecream cone or popsicle, and sent some boxes of them home with a couple of the dads. (like the UPS guy) We spent the next few hours after that doing the last minute packing and cleaning that stinks the worst. The next morning, my super duper awesome friends planned a little goodbye breakfast meet-up at Kneaders. So the 6 of us met up there at 7:00am and I finally got to experience Kneader's legendary french toast, right before I moved way too far away to have it again any time soon! Miraculously I didn't cry as we all hugged goodbye, although I feel like I've cried at so many random moments over the past 2 months knowing this move was coming that I already have more than enough cried about leaving my friends!! Anyway, as soon as I got back we did the final pack-up and clean-up and pulled out of Boise at 9:15. I had the Explorer, which was packed with stuff in addition to me, Ashlyn, and Lucy. Collin drove our U-Haul with the Camry towed behind it. I cried for like 5 minutes as I drove away. I am SUCH a baby! Driving down the freeway and past BSU.....it just seems like I've lived in Boise forever. I will miss it. But I got over it and was looking forward to getting to Jerome.
We got to the house in Jerome about 40 minutes before Collin. Ashlyn was excited to check out the new house, and SUPER excited about her new room. The owners had left a little owl vinyl on the wall in her room and you know how she is about any animal. My mom and Andrea showed up about 20 minutes after we got there and began helping to watch Ashlyn and unpack the Explorer. Once Collin got there we had a quick lunch then some people from the ward arrived and helped us unpack. My mom is wonder-woman when it comes to unpacking and organizing! She saved me like 2 days' worth of unpacking time, no joke!! She did the entire kitchen, and laundry, and helped with Ashlyn's room and still had time to chill with Ashlyn a little bit. It was a HUGE help having Andrea here to keep track of Ashlyn. We tried to take advantage of that as much as we could and got almost all the main necessities unpacked. And now here we are. Collin accidentally missed a meeting already this morning, great start, ha ha. So he ended up rushing in to work and I have been continuing to unpack. I will do a better post about our other summer fun later!
