January 2

I kind of felt like I was in a stupor in January. You know? But looking back, at least one of us was pretty busy! Here are some highlights of our January....

"cooking" with Mom. This is becoming very popular these days!

More cooking.

She's absolutely in LOVE with the big barn we borrowed from Grandma and Grandpa for her upcoming birthday party.... it has been the #1 toy every single day. She is starting to use her imagination and has the little animals run around and kiss each other.... I die!! Anyway, she is getting her own little barn with animals for her birthday!

Little boxes that can double as "trains" or "cars" are a big favorite.... especially when she can convince Mom or Dad to give her a ride! (talk about a workout!!)

Eating batter off the beater... oh yea

Had her first "real" hair appointment with Miss Shari. She sat good enough (in my lap albeit) to get her whole head cornrowed! Miss Shari was impressed. I don't plan on taking her in very often, maybe twice a year. I just want her to get used to it. And seriously, those cornrows lasted a month, it was a nice break!

Hanging out with buddies Miles and Ellie---2 of my besties' little ones! 

Devouring (and licking the bowl!) oatmeal with chocolate chips --Whittier family tradition!

 This dog definitely doesn't understand the fact that A) she's not a lap dog and B) sometimes it is NOT cuddling time! Like when you have a laptop and papers in your lap!

Reading, reading, and more reading... "farm" and "car" books are favorites right now.

We have been laughing at our slowly shrinking snowman... he looked like a Dementor the last couple of days!

My friend and I planned a baby shower that had over 30 guests...it was packed but we pulled it off! (and somehow the only picture I have is of the food table?)

Trips to Target.... the popcorn is a big hit (and a lifesaving distraction!)

Having a BLAST at Music and Movement at the library. Singing and dancing... so right up her alley.

Getting hair fixed by mom.... it is just awesome TV time in her opinion!

She loves to sit behind the rocking chair in her room and read.... or hide from me when it's time to change her diaper or eat a  meal!

So so cute. 

We went over to IF one of the weekends Collin was gone... which included getting to visit Grandma Great.

Ashlyn also got her first taste of another Whittier tradition....whip cream sprayed in the mouth! She got really upset when we put the whip cream away. Thanks Dad. ;)

We had an issue of her being afraid of baths for a while there (separate story and it was all my fault... sad), but luckily bath crayons solved the problem! Now she doesn't want to get out of the tub! And our tub is now adorned with lots and lots of pretty artwork.

These necklaces went everywhere with her for about a week. I grabbed on a whim at the dollar store to keep her occupied while I shopped....didn't realize they would become a "necessary accessory"! She would throw the hugest fit if I tried to take them off before we left the house....and I decided it wasn't a battle I cared to fight. In all fairness, she got really good at saying "pretty" and she also got a lot of practice recognizing the colors of the necklaces...as she was constantly putting them on and off. And if she ever goes to Mardi Gras she is already set.
