My little brother Cory came home from his 2-year church mission in Southern California a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't at the airport when he flew in, but I went to Idaho Falls the next day to stay for a few days. (Collin had a tournament...what a surprise! :)
2 weeks after he got home, my baby brother Alex left for his mission to Uruguay! So to make things crazy they scheduled Cory's mission report talk and Alex's farewell talk for the same Sunday. So it was a big gathering of family!
Everyone in my family came over to IF for this! It was the first time me and all my siblings had been together for 2 years. And the first time ever with 2 new spouses, Megan and Paul, in the family! It was really fun and crowded! My grandma and her husband came over from Denver also, so we had lots of people around everywhere! Grandma treated us all to breakfast at IHOP Saturday morning, then all the girls spent a few hours in the kitchen helping mom get ready for the millions of people coming to the house the next day.
Later that afternoon Tara and I drove to pick up Collin in Burley after his tournament (which they WON!) , then came back to my parents house just in time to play a couple rounds of progressive pictionary, which turned out to be hilarious.
We then had to go get family pictures taken, at like 9:30 that night since it was the first time everyone including Collin was there! That of course was also funny, and hopefully someday I'll get a few of those pictures to put up here!
The next day at church was great--both my brothers gave really awesome talks. Alex of course played with the boundaries of what is appropriate for a church meeting by talking about the prune juice challenge he and his roommates did..... and Cory really showed that he has matured and is a great teacher of the gospel. And miracle of miracles, he actually said he appreciates his family! :)
Oh, and I was the musical number.... I did a big piano solo that hopefully sounded okay. You never know. But I enjoyed being part of it.
Here are my 2 brothers with Grandma! Cory on the left, Alex on the right. After church we really did have tons of people in the house so our preparations went to good use! We had tons of good food and it was fun to catch up with family and friends that I haven't seen in a while!
And now.... Alex is in Uruguay so it will be another 2 years before our family can all be together! Hopefully by then there will be more spouses in the family and some grandbabies too! :)
I love you fam!
