We finally got a chance to head up camping just the two (3 if you count Lucy) of us, even though technically I would consider this our 4th camping trip of the summer. We have an awesome book about a lot of the camping spots around S.W. Idaho, so we've been trying out some new ones. We went up to Sagehen Reservoir this time, and it was a really pretty spot. It was somewhat crowded, but pretty.
We were lucky to actually have nice weather! This was definitely the most wonderful weather we have had camping all summer. No wind, warm temperatures, no rain!! It was great!
They have a little nature trail that under a mile long that we "hiked." It was really pretty.
Collin and Lucy got a little daring climbing up some ridiculously un-safe looking rocks! I stayed down! :)

Since that "nature trail" was so short, we decided to go on a longer hike, since we had packed lunches and everything. So it was my idea to hike all the way around the lake. From our side it didn't look like it would be too far all the way around.
We found some fun things along the way... like this rope swing, too bad the water was so low you would kill yourself actually swinging on this thing! (not that that stopped Collin)
So the hike ended up being way longer than we thought it would be! (of course!) There are a lot of little inlets and coves that you can't see from the side we were camped on. But we found them, obviously! There was a trail that went all the way around, but once we got to the dam we were like, "what did we get ourselves in to?" But not too long after that we found ourselves back on the beach, thank goodness. It was funny. We definitely hadn't planned to hike that far, but it ended up being a good workout! Lucy was a hiking champ! She has found her true calling. She probably would have run the whole way if we let her. I was super surprised, her being a little 16 pound dog and all. But she had a great time. I think we found out later that the hike was about 6 miles around the lake. Not too shabby!
Resting my weary feet!
(we took a nap after this--oh yeah!)
Collin is quite the fire champ these days. I remember back when we were first married it took forever for him to get a fire going! (sorry honey, but it's true!) Now it is like, 5 minutes and we've got a big one. He is also currently in love with chopping wood. He would do that all day if he could, I think. I guess he found his inner-lumberjack.
We had some delish Dutch oven for dinner! This was the first time I dared to try making an actual meal in it! I always stick to desserts because they are easier! But it was oh-so-good. Bacon, pork chops, potatoes, onions, corn on the cob.... yum!! It took a while to be done but was worth it!!
The next day we packed up and headed to the beach for a couple hours before heading home. We had brought our little raft so figured why not? Unfortunately the wind had come up, so even though we paddled and paddled we basically would stay in place or just drift to the shore. Lame. Plus we took Lucy out there and she was just trying to jump out the whole time. I didn't think it was the best place to learn if she can swim or not.
