First Day of School

Collin's first day of school! My mom took a picture of us on our first day of school every year (and we hated it every year) so although I missed that tradition all the last 3 years Collin has had first days of school, I did it this year! I was so cool, I got up and made him eggs and toast and even packed him a lunch! I am getting off to a good start this year as a wife! :)
And as for Collin, who this post should really be about . . . he actually had a good first day! I think it might be the first one. This is his 4th year teaching, which is crazy! He is now working on his masters, which means he gets to move up in the pay scale which we are of course excited about. But they incorporated a new "hybrid" schedule this year--something like the "block" but you have more room for electives, or something like that. Obviously I spaced out when Collin explained it to me. oops! Sorry honey. Anyways, he says it is way better because he only has to plan and teach 3 classes each day instead of 6 right in a row, which I can imagine must have been quite tiring. And the best part of all is . . . his prep period is last!! So he gets to have the last hour and a half to plan, and it will be so great for him when wrestling starts up because he always needs time after school to get stuff ready for practice and meets, and now he will actually have the time!
So there is everything you needed to know about Collin going back to school, and more.
In other news . . . .

We finally got a dryer!! Wa-hoo, I am way excited about this! We bought a washer like 2 months ago when we moved in, but my parents had a dryer to give us but it took a while to get it over here from IF. (which we didn't mind because hey, it was free.) It came yesterday! (and it only took us like 3 hours to get it all set up!!) So now I can finally do all my laundry in my house. I know it is really not that bad to have to take it somewhere to be done, but really, you should try it sometime if you have your own in your house! It's more work than you would think! It made me really grateful for a dryer, which I don't think I had every been before. But I am now! And thanks again Mom and Dad!

Good post Tonya. We do love the dryer, too bad it kept me up late cause I had to change the outlet last night.
I'm glad you realize you don't always listen to everything I say. The "Hybrid" is revolutionarily too complicated to explain. Just like that last phrase. Thanks for breakfast on my first day, you gave me the energy for a good start.
Love,
Collin

Ah yes, the first day of school pictures. We were all nervous out of our minds and Mom made us do those cheesy poses with our hands on the doorknob. . glad you're keeping the tradition alive!

Dryers are wonderful. I am just SO grateful to have mine inside now that we have moved. Inside? You are saying to yourself - "Self, that is a strange thing to say." But yes, we used to have our dryer outside on the deck, plugged into a 110 plug which meant that it took FOREVER to dry a load of laundry. Especially in the winter when it was -10 degrees. We're talking ALL DAY to dry a load of whites. So, we too are grateful for simple things like having a dryer, inside, plugged into a 220 plug and conveniently located directly next to the washer. Take clothes out - throw directly into efficiently functioning, non-ice-covered dryer. Hallelujah!

Oh man! I know the feeling. We HATED using laundromats. Expensive, long, monotonous, basically everything horrible!

That's awesome about Collin's schedule this year! Sounds waaay better than what he was dealing with the few years before. AND I've been meaning to say congrats on the house. I can't wait to have a house!
