Memorial Weekend

I have one question for the government. Why the heck do you always make these 3 day weekends so that the extra day off is Monday?? It is so obvious that it would be SO much better for everyone if the extra day off was on Friday. HELLO!!
Well we didn't make any exciting plans for the weekend. . . and ended up really wanting to get out of the house because we had beautiful weather. Saturday night we went for a long bike ride--down the greenbelt. We stopped at Taco Bell (there's some healthy bike-riding food for you) for some food and then made our way to Ann Morrison park where we did a little. . .

Frisby golfing! Now let me tell you this: I have almost zero interest in this stupid game/sport/whatever you call it. We both totally suck at it--but Collin likes the challenge I guess. We bought a couple of those special frisbees you use last summer and have used them like 3 times. I think the main reason I don't like it is because WEIRD people do it! If you have ever gone to Ann Morrison park or anywhere else and seen the frisby golfers you know exactly what I mean! We were the only ones
1) with shirts on
2) without beers in our hands
3) without a big backpack full of like 50 different frisbees
4) that couldn't throw the frisby more than like 20 feet
5) that didn't seem to know all the other people there.
So that might give you a taste of why I'm not a big frisby golf fan. (Am I spelling frisby right? It's starting to look really weird to me.) We only "golfed" like 5 "holes" (I have no idea the words you're supposed to use for those weird chain-basket things) before we left so it wouldn't be dark on our bike ride home.

Collin really wanted to figure out a way to get a picture where it looked like he was, well, you can probably figure it out. This was the best we could do, he was sad and I was of course rolling my eyes but being a good wife and taking his picture anyways.

On our way home we stopped and rented this. . . I know we're like the last people on the planet to watch it and I had heard it was good, but I didn't get my hopes up because I aso heard that well, some really stupid movies were good. But this one didn't disappoint, it was really good! Funny, and good! That Steve Carell, I tell you, he's really getting to be my favorite. . . I had to put a picture of this blue nightmare on here because it was also a part of my weekend. If you guessed what it is (Divinity), good for you because no one in Young Women could. I had to give a lesson on Divine Nature--get it?? I've never made divinity before, that's for sure. And I will never make it again. It took like an hour to make and it was totally gross. Of course the girls didn't seem to mind it, and Collin ate a lot, so I guess if you like pure sugar this is the treat for you. So, we also went on ANOTHER bike ride the next night. This was the annual ward/whoever wants to midnight Memorial bike ride. A guy in our ward and his family organized it years ago, and we went last year and there were over 200 people that went. It was really cool because we all met at the church at midnight and the ride is like 12 miles up some back roads, and it makes a huge circle and you eventually end up back at the church. Last year they had a huge breakfast at the church for everyone who made it back. This year the guy and his fam were out of town, so there was no breakfast and only like 50 people went . . . but it was still fun.
Oh wait, I need to explain better. It actually was not a very good bike ride for us! Collin got a flat before we even got to the trial. . . and he got like 5 more flats along the way! Luckily he had a portable pump and was able to fix it temporarily each time, until the last time right before the top of the last hill. One tire finally wouldn't hold any air at all. SOOOO he traded bikes with a 10-year-old girl who was riding in the bone truck! ha ha ha! Words can not express the hilarity and how hard I was laughing as Collin pedaled a little no-speed bike that said "Power-Girl" or something all the way down Simplot hill, Hill Road, and back to the church. I took a video, but saldy it didn't turn out. Oh man, was it funny. Even though it was sad that he didn't have a good bike, I was so happy that it happened just for the sheer entertainment it provided me. (I know, I am evil. But he was laughing too.) It was still fun, and even though there was no breakfast at the church afterwards, we went home and made our own. The best part was that we got to sleep in until like 11 the next morning! :)

Oh, and I forgot. LOVE Dan in Real Life. So funny. Do you watch the office? "Would and average size rowboat support her ... without capsizing?"

We didn't start watching the Office until the last 3 episodes of the last season and loved it!! We laughed so hard we had to push pause so we didn't miss what was next!! ..and I totally agree with you on frisby golf!
