June Roundup

June seemed to pass me by in a haze.... like I was in some sort of drug-induced stupor or something.

OH WAIT! I was.

(thanks again, Percocet)

Thank the heavens above for my wonderful husband, and the fact that he happened to be on summer break when all that shiz hit the fan. He seriously held down the fort for like 3 weeks. I couldn't do much but lay around in pain and try to save my energy for the few piano students I had coming here and there. Not to mention seriously, I was in some sort of hormonal breakdown. It was literally laughter one minute and tears the next... fun for everyone!  He took great care of everything--from cleaning the house to taking Ashlyn to the library and the park. I'm kinda glad they got some time to bond...but it is also SO hard as a mom to sit back and let someone else take charge.
It's a good thing I had a couple of good great books to keep me company.... these are not shorties, mind you! Just goes to show how much laying around I did.

Would highly recommend this one! LOVED it!

Meh--not as great as the first one, but still kept me reading.
So I figured I would just round up all my pictures from June and accompany them with a good amount of verbal vomit just for you (and of course my posterity). Since I'm sure you've been dying to know. In fact you've probably been lying awake in bed at night, staring at the ceiling wondering things like "How was Father's Day at the Robertson's house? Is Ashlyn still wearing her parents' shoes around all the time? Have they been to the splash park yet? Has it been hot in Boise?" Well don't you worry, you will find the answers to all those questions and more right now! This post may or may not be completely accurate... I plead the 5th as I was seriously drugged for 2/3 of the month.

So there was Father's Day . . . that was the first weekend right after my medical treatment so I was pretty much completely down and out. Sorry, Collin..... no breakfast in bed, and I'm pretty sure we had frozen pizza for dinner. Wife of the year, right here. :)

This was our gift for Daddy... a rootbeer & cream soda sampler. I can't take credit for the idea or the cute tag, although I  can say that I got neither of them from Pinterest! ha!
Here we have a sampling of what it was like trying to get Ashlyn into a picture with Collin on Father's Day:

Here's the winning shot:
Happy Father's Day 2013! He's now been a Dad for 2.5 years. Whoa!

More things that happened in June:

Chandra introduced me to Bubble Tea! (why do my eyes look completely scary in this?!)

We took Ashlyn swimming at IAC.

Another sampling of our failed efforts to get a shot of cutie pie in her pretty church clothes. We are cruel, cruel people.

Ashlyn had her first otter pop.

I spent a week practicing--a lot--to perform Gershwin's 1st and 2nd preludes at Piano Club... only to be unable to attend at the last minute because of the previously mentioned health issues. Ok, it is getting annoying referring to the "health issues" as "health issues." I think for the rest of this post I will just refer to that whole shiznat as "The Incident." (LOST anyone???)

My parents came to visit, and Mom, Ashlyn and I made a trip to the zoo! Have you been recently? Those huge moving dinosaurs freak the crap out of Ashlyn! And as you can see in the top right picture, Mom and Lucy did some bonding as well.

Someone finally made the connection about being able to move a stool or chair around to reach whatever she wants. Sigh. I was really enjoying how long it took her to figure that out.

We tried out a couple of new hairdos

We had some fun at cute little Bryce's birthday party.

The Ellsworths loaned us their Big Wheel since their little guy is too short for it....Ashlyn is tall enough but doesn't really get it.

Ashlyn picked out her first prize for the library reading program.

I put them to work as I sat in the shade.

Every day for like a week I would find this little guy buckled into the high chair with some "snacks" on his tray.

We hit up Sonic for half-price shakes one night while Collin was at a camp, and then packed it into the car to take a shake to him.

which resulted in this:
Oh Mylanta.

We finally moved the DVDs back into the entertainment center shelves, after being packed away during the non-understanding-what-no means period. They have been a huge favorite activity.

I discovered Dirty Diet Coke and have pretty much had one every day... and been thinking about it pretty much all the time.... that's not weird or anything right??....

I took a couple of hours to get away one Sunday night to attend a VIP concert at Dunkley's--Dr. Marvin Blickenstaff's final concert before he retired. It was much-needed soul nurturing and fun to see some of my piano buddies I don't see often in the summer.

I made this bomb-diggity wreath:

We had lots of playdates with friends while their mommas were busy... and had some lunch at the park.

It was mother-freakin' hot.

Some dear sisters and friends stopped by with popcorn, milkshakes, and cookies....and sent beautiful flowers. xoxo

The shoe fetish continued.

I braved a trip to the vet with "both" my kids.... one was scared because she had to get a checkup, and the other one was scared because she thought  she was there for a checkup, even though I said 800 times it was a Doggie Doctor. It finally sank in and then she colored. All over my to-do list.

She's really going to be disappointed when she finally realizes that she's not really driving.

Noodle-sword fights with Daddy happened.

Sittin' on the couch enjoying a cup of Sonic ice happened.

Being generally adorable happened--a LOT.

We commenced and concluded the "battle with the birds".... we had robins nest in a tree right outside our back door, which was fun until the eggs hatched and literally anyone over 3 feet tall who set foot in our backyard got DIVE-BOMBED by the psycho birdie parents. Dude, I was over those little baby birds so fast! No one tells me when I can and can't go in my own backyard! Let's hope that never happens again--Nature-schmature!

Helping Daddy in the yard happened

And yes, the splash-park happened. We took her one morning at the last second and to my surprise, she actually got somewhat into it! We have a long way to go before she's actually okay with water on her face, but it was a big step up from last summer! We'll be going again soon!

So to sum up, this is how I was feeling off and on (ok, mostly on) throughout most of the month:
As I think I already complained about in my previous blog post. BUT, I like to think that I didn't completely crawl into a hole through this whole experience. I tried my best to continue to complete my calling, and even taught a lesson while pretty doped up one Sunday (those girls learned more about the Priesthood than they bargained for.... wa ha ha). I kept laundry clean and taught all my students, even though that was against the doctor's wishes. I did a LOT of waiting in the dr's office and had my blood drawn a LOT. I took a LOT of pain pills and layed around with cramps a LOT. But I was also visited by dear friends and had family to call and cry or laugh with, on top of living with the most wonderful man on the planet and having a sweet, sweet baby girl who can cheer my spirits pretty much no matter what. And in the end, I really think it could have been way, way, way worse. I got off pretty darn easy.  And as you can see, my life was still very, very fulfilling, even in a dark moment like that. Lucky me.
:)

Ton! It's been too long since I read your blog (could you send an invite to wrbohn@gmail.com? I use that email now so I can never access your blog without signing out and then signing back in - which obviously, I don't do a lot). I didn't know all this was going on with you!!!! Yay that you know you can get pregnant though. Hang in there. You and Colin are the neatest people and the best parents. You have so much faith and I just know you'll get another baby one way or another. I will keep you in my prayers. I totally see a cute little baby boy coming your way! Maybe twins!!!!!
