Halloween

It's All About the Candy!

I had a lot of stuff going on through September and October, so my original plans for a super cute little lady-bug costume for Ashlyn went out the window about mid-October! Plus I realized we didn't really have much to get all dressed up for besides our Trunk or Treat. So, thus the little fairy costume. SO unoriginal, I know. But well I realized I'm not going to be one of those moms that spends hours on a costume my kid doesn't even care about. There's just not the time! 

My bud Kaylin made this little tutu and wand for Ashlyn a year ago! So again with the shortcuts this year, I figured why re-invent the wheel when I had a perfect one sitting around? I just got her some dollar store wings (not recommended by the way--they were broken after like 20 minutes) and did a little hairdo with pink ribbons (although it did NOT turn out how I was picturing it), and we were good to go. 

 

Of course our camera broke a couple weeks before Halloween so I had no pictures in October, except for when I was really desperate I used our crappy old video camera. And I mean crappy. It will only take semi-decent pics outside. I got her all dressed up on Halloween and we headed out to do a little photo shoot (since outside was my only option--and thankfully it was like 60 degrees that day!) and after I took a few pictures somehow I switched something on the camera's lens and all the rest of the pictures were blurry! Double boo! Plus of course Ash absolutely refused to even so much as LOOK at the camera...ever.... so well, this is what we got. Better than nothing I guess.

By the way, a certain other someone was an owl.... so freaking hilarious!

This one is really cute. These two have a serious love-hate relationship but this was a cute "kissing" moment

We had a good time at our ward Trunk or Treat--I didn't even make chili this year but just brought cornbread. And since there were only like 8 pots of chili it appeared that everyone else had the same idea. Oops.

We were camera-less at this one as well so props to Chandra for taking some pictures!

One of these years I will really come up with a family costume. But this wasn't the year!

Collin did take Ashlyn around to some of the cars to Trunk or Treat. I guess she didn't really get what to say but she did say "thank you" when they would put some candy in her bucket. I was thinking I really like this whole having my kid Trick or Treat thing because it meant a bunch of candy for Collin and I to eat when we got home! You better believe that's what we did! *cough cough*
