Thursday

Thanks what now?

Thanksgiving... ah yes I am just now getting around to posting about it.

We went to Idaho Falls... and had a great old time. Actually it wasn't one of my better weeks.... the weekend before I again came down with pouchitis. Yes, the 2nd time in 6 weeks. I started antibiotics the day before we left, thankfully, but I swear they didn't kick in for 4 more days. I finally started to actually feel better on Black Friday. Now that I think back, maybe I finally started feeling better then because of all the retail therapy. Just kidding. But seriously, I was glad we were there because there were so many people to help take care of Ashlyn, and since I basically didn't sleep at all due to constant chills and night sweats, had no energy, couldn't eat much (which I ate lots of stuff I shouldn't have anyway) and other fun things, I was glad to have help and not be dealing with her at home all alone. And I think there were enough distractions that I could kind of psych myself into feeling better anyway. Mind over matter, right!

So, the night before Thanksgiving us "married kids" went bowling--at good old Bowlero! There are 4 married couples now so it is getting to be a big group! It was fun! We did 2 rounds (is that what you call it?) and the 2nd time was boys against girls. I don't think I need to mention who won. We spent a lot of the time trying to take good action shots of each other and also trying to scare each other right when we threw the ball. I have like 10 pictures on my camera similar to this:And you'll have to guess whose bum it is.

All the married girls together--woot!

(they need a song as cool as Single Ladies for Married Ladies)

And then what I got when I tried to get the boys in a picture. oh barf. or eye roll.

A couple of months ago I recruited most of my family to participate in a 5K Thanksgiving morning! For the past 4 years or so Collin and I have had the tradition of going running Thanksgiving morning.... and then last year we did a 4 miler in Provo ..... and this year there happened to be a big race going on right there in IF so I signed us up! 11 of us! We had enough to get our own cool color of shirts. Everyone else's were maroon so we looked super hip. That color is called safety-orange in case you were wondering. Anyway, most of us did the 5K run, a couple did a 1-mile walk, and Collin did a 10K. Yes, typical of my husband he ran 2 miles the day before to "train" and then completed the entire 10K without walking. Can I get another eye-roll! I am always impressed...yet also sickened by how incredibly hard I would have to work to be able to do that and how ridiculously easy it is for him! And if you're wondering, I did run 1.5 miles! woot! I made it halfway, which was my goal, once I started running. I hadn't run for over 3 months, due to various reasons. It was LAME because I was the one who got everyone into doing the race and I was excited about it.... but life and a baby and sickness and injuries got in the way. oh well. It was fun to run that far. And by run I mean jogging so slow speed walkers were passing me. In fact, my mom walked the 5K and by the end she had caught up to me!!!!

Thanksgiving was fun. I actually slept most of the afternoon in an Ibuprofen-induced haze, so I dn't remember much. But I did read like 500 Black Friday ads, and I did go out at 5:30am with my brothers and dad the next day. (How backwards is that, I went shopping with all the MEN that early?!) I got lots of great deals and it was really fun. I ended up with my dad most of the time and it was so fun to get to spend time shopping with him. He's a good little shopping buddy! :)

And we did have an attempt at a family picture. It did go ok considering we were using the timer on a camera because it didn't occur to us to do it the day before when there were other people around to take the picture. Well, it went well until Ashlyn realized how close she was to my mom's beauuuutiful hair. ha ha ha. I hope they put this one in their Christmas card.

Happy Thanksgiving!
