Ode to Pinterest

Now that I am forced to stay home almost all day every weekday (I am a slave to naptime, especially the days I teach and Ashlyn goes to the sitter, she doesn't get much of a nap so her morning nap is her big one!), which was difficult to adjust to, and I still am not totally adjusted, but it's a coming process.....
Anyway, now that I have a good 3 hours of time to myself every day where I have to stay at home, let's face it, I'm not going to spend that time cleaning or cooking! So I had been surfing the web for some good craft/home improvement/gift ideas to work on during my "free time." I had heard of pinterest from some friends on facebook but finally got on it around Labor Day! It is so great! Instead of having 50 bazillion bookmarks of stuff I wanted to come back to, I can just pin them all on my pinterest boards and get right to them whenever I want to! Plus, a lot of my friends are on there so I can see all the cool things they have found and *steal* them if I want to! I know I sound like a HUGE loser talking about a website I like so much, but I have been in serious craft/recipe/project mode lately so pinterest has been my lifesaver! There are tons of things I have made from pins I put up, including recipes, scarves, necklaces, crafts.... I don't have cool pictures of all of them plus I doubt you really care. But a few things I did bother to take a pic of, I just put up some things that are 100% pinterest inspired!
My poor burlap wreath.... a few of you have heard the sob story behind this, at least it looks this much like a circle now. It was a total oval for a long time. It's .... basically circular.... right?? :) Besides the stupid shape I am very proud!

Halloween treats!

This next one was a big project, it took about 2 weeks. I recently rearranged my living room and had a huge empty spot on the wall between the living room and dining room (which let's face it is really all just one big room). We also had a crappy old walmart laminate bookcase Collin has had since his single days, sitting in Ashlyn's room, waiting to either be sold on craigslist or taken to D.I. But then I found a great tutorial on painting laminate furniture.... and voila!

This is the half-way point... after some serious primer but before the painting. It was originally brownish red.

Finished product! wahoo! I was proud. A new bookcase like this would be at least $30 at Target, but total this cost me about $9. Watch out crappy old entertainment center, you are so next.

This is a little one--but has been more handy than I imagined. Doggy donation (if you know what I mean) pickup bag container! (made from an old lysol wipes container)

And more Halloween treats! So like I said, I heart heart pinterest. Except for the people who post like 8 billion things a day, not so much a fan. But besides lots of yummy recipes, fun crafts, and help on projects, there are also some freaking. funny. things I have found. You'll just have to get your own pinterest account if you want to see them. But me and Tara have been greatly enjoying sharing the funny stuff on there. And there is my ode to pinterest.

I need to get going on my pinterest stuff! I signed up, and lots of people are following me, but I'm not sure how to start now!

Oh, and I'm really glad you put a picture up of the cupcakes you did before the ones when I was "helping." Let's just say you can tell "whoooo" did a better job! Bah ha! Sorry... couldn't resist!
