Hello New Year

I have been so preoccupied this Christmas. You may have been able to tell by my utter lack of posting the last couple of months! Anyway, I feel like the whole holiday season came by me in a flash and I can't believe it's over. I also kind of feel like I have been in some weird funk because I didn't get nearly as "into" everything as I usually do. Why? I don't know. Well, I admit we have had some stuff going on that I just haven't ever felt like posting. But here I am, and it's the start of a new year... so I wanted to recap some of what happened, good and bad this past year!

2009

JANUARY

*Collin and I started out the year thousands of miles apart--I was in Tennessee for Sam's wedding festivities and Collin was in Boise due to wrestling.

* I headed to Utah with Collin and the team for a tournament-and had some fun with Tara while I was there!

* I clogged at the Special Olympics--wahoo! Who didn't love those??

FEBRUARY

* We kicked bottom in the Boise Kick-Off Clogging Comp held in Nampa.

* For Valentine's Day we watched Lost and ate Empinadas!

*We made it to Bogus 3 times this month! I finally got carving down!!

* State Wrestling!!!

MARCH

* We headed to Portland for a wrestling tournament, and to visit my old bud Andrea.

* Collin went to Arizona with his family to see his brother conducted to their high school's athletic hall of fame

* Collin and 2 other coaches started their own freestyle club--Patriot Wrestling Club. There was an article in the paper! (oooh!)

APRIL

* I passed the National Music Teachers Certification test! Now officially Tonya Robertson, NCTM

* Fertility testing. fun stuff!!

* My Spring Studio recitals--went great!

MAY

* I fired like 5 piano students--for the first and hopefully last time!

* IMTA had our crazy-insane-nutso Spring Music Fair! And it turned out beautifully! Who says hard work doesn't bring results?

* Lagoon--Grand Nationals! This year I was too tired to stick around and ride rides all night.

* We planted our first garden!

* We went to IF and met Tara's new boyfriend.... and didn't like him. good riddance, loser!!

JUNE

* Collin got out of school 3 days early to head on a 7-day trip to Costa Rica with a student tour. I stayed at home and ....

* finished his huge scrapbooks!

* We bought a new TV--2 weeks after the switch to digital ....

* TAKE STEPS for Crohn's and Colitis! We had tons of amazing friends and family come support the cause, and the walk raised over $30,000! Life-changing.

* Camping trip #1 ....

JULY

* What else than a great trip to Idaho Falls for the 4th? It was actually the first time all but 2 of my cousins had been together in a really long time and it was wonderful to see all of them.

* My birthday, obviously. We celebrated with the wrestling team at Roaring Springs and then went to the rodeo. (without the wrestling team)

* Collin and Jody ran their 2nd successful summer camp.

* I started training for a 5K!

* Camping Trip #2 ....

AUGUST

* The Painted Turtle! Our (probably) last time as cabin counselors at the camp for kids with life-threatening illnesses was great. I made some great friends and we were silly all week.

* The rest of our Cali trip was great--Dodgers game, Hollywood, and Disneyland, all in about 48 hours! whew!

* Ran my first 5K! Race for Recovery in Provo. It was great! Collin and Tyler ran the 10K and Collin got 2nd in his age group.

* We had our last camping trip---and the debut of the dutch oven!!!

SEPTEMBER

* Back to school! (for Collin anyway)

* I started up the year with 29 piano students and so far it is going great!

* I took over as TVMTA secretary--no more VP for me! (thank goodness!)

* We spent our 4th anniversary at the Grove Hotel and enjoyed a fun night out downtown.

* Tara came to visit and we ran the 5K for the Womens Fitness Celebration! And ate ourselves sick with cheesecake and shopped our little hearts out.

OCTOBER

* I did my first try at a Halloween recital, and it went great!

* We dressed up as Bella and Edward and won the costume contest at a Halloween party!

* Started our first round of infertility treatment.

NOVEMBER

* Wrestling season started!!

* IF treatment cycle #1 ....failed.

* We went to the only BSU football game we attended all season.... and they won.

* Collin was nice enough to miss one day of practice so we could go to IF for Thanksgiving. We had a good time with my whole family and both my grandmas as well.

DECEMBER

* I frantically tried to finish Collin's quilt and got it done 2 days before Christmas...after tying it to the bed at one point!

* IF treatment cycle #2 ....failed.

* Collin headed to Reno with a crazy bus driver, thankfully the whole team survived.

* We headed to IF/Utah for a whole week due to no practice! heaven!!! Merry Christmas!

...so there you have it, our year in review. I always feel like I should be doing more to be a better person, and starting this new year is no exception. I think it's so easy to get caught up in my own problems, but I have learned (often the slow, hard way, due to my own stubbornness) that doing that solves nothing and basically just makes life miserable. I definitely thought a lot of things would be different in my life at this point, but I am so blessed and I really wouldn't trade my life with anyone else's. Collin is the best husband ever and we truly have more blessings than I could ever try to count. I have a lot of hope for possibilities of the coming year, and some resolutions as well. Here's to everyone getting a good start on the new year!

HELLO 2010!

I feel famous because you mentioned me like 3 times and no one else in the family was really even mentioned. COOL!

It's been way too long since I read your cute blog. You had a fun year and a not-so-fun year at times but 2010 is going to be the best for you. I just know it!

You had one busy year! So, naturally I'm curious about your IF treatments...since we did that for what seemed like an eternity. Who's your Doc? It's such a hard thing (in so many different ways) and I empathize with anyone who's going down that road. We are on the verge of getting started again and I am absolutely dreading it. Booo!!!
Anyway, I know you don't want to spill all the details, but if you feel the need, you should email me!
HAPPY 2010!!!
