One of our highlights of July was the Whittier family reunion! It's weird still that we have a "reunion," because that just makes me think of big families who don't see each other very often. But actually, we have become that way this past year! All three of my brothers were spread out between New York, Tennessee, and Texas. Us sisters got together a few times, but I had definitely missed the whole family getting together! We went to the same cabin in Inkom, ID that we did last year. It's really a great place for our families. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to be comfortable, and the kids sleep far enough away from the living room that we don't keep them up with our late-night shenanigans! :) Sam and Megan did a super awesome job planning it all out.
We spent a hot day at Lava Hot Springs! It was wonderful!
Elan helped with clean up on the last day :)
We had some family pictures taken one morning, and I had suuper low expectations. As I think all parents of young kids have when it comes to getting pictures taken! I thought it went pretty well, all things considered. Our awesome cousin Tanner took them. He really has a phenomenal eye for great scenery and took us to a couple of really beautiful places.
Mr. Elan taking charge of the grandkids photo. Oh my heart!
We bribed our kids pretty heavily... well Ashlyn anyway! She got ice cream afterwards, and Elan got a nice big sucker. It was worth it!
Jodee and I were glasses buddies! I had a ridiculously long-lasting eye infection leading up to the reunion. Like, I had to take two separate antibiotics to finally clear it up. I was decently miserable, and was worried about the family and wedding pictures coming up! Plus I was SO sick of wearing my glasses! I think I wore them for 2 weeks straight! Jodee had scratched her cornea and was also stuck in glasses for quite a while. We lamented together. :) Luckily we were able to be glasses free by the time of her wedding!!
Oh if only you could see the video of this! Love how my 37-year old husband still acts like a 5-year old sometimes. Drinkin' his juice box and swingin'
I brought a few little activities for the little girls to play with... this one was fun, making stained glass window art.
Not a great picture, but I don't have a ton from the cabin! This is Elan with Paisley and Grace.
Oh my heart! All the little kiddos except Benton sitting together. I love these kids beyond reason! This is one they can recreate someday.
I had to think for a minute what was going on for this picture... how is it that they're sitting so nicely together? Then I remembered that this was a time I turned on Little Einsteins for them on my tablet while we were packing up.
These two had SO much fun together. It's nice that they are getting old enough to actually want to play together. Even though we knew we'd see everyone again just a few days later for Jodee's wedding, it was still hard to say goodbye and head home! Ashlyn was especially sad to leave Grace. Reminds me of my own happy memories of cousin time! (also love Elan's little photobomb in the background!)
