We took a trip to Boise area in August. It was kind of the last of a really busy 8 weeks and by the end of the trip I wish I could say I felt happy with the fun we'd had but really I was just DONE! Originally the whole trip was planned to go visit the Goers (the family who found us Elan) in Emmett for a couple days. But things snowballed when first it turned out Collin already had to be in Boise at that time for a conference, and then on top of that our Boise house was going to be between renters that week which meant fixing up all the insane damage the awful renters we'd had had done. The whole trip ended up being exhausting and feeling like a ton of work. Well, with the exception of our time at the Goers', that really was relaxing!
Anyway, Collin was there working on our house in Boise literally every spare second he had that whole week. In the end we gave those renters $40.00 of their $995.00 deposit back if that gives you any idea of how much they had messed up the house. That was being generous too. If there was a way we could have added the complete ruination of the yard into that, they would still owe us $$. Oh well. Replacing light fixtures, doorframes, screens, hoses, blinds, scraping boogers off the ceiling, disposing of junk they left, picking up dog crap and trying to fix up the lawn, on top of the usual cleaning and repainting.... Poor Collin worked so hard. We hardly even talked to each other that week. When I came over with the kids I had imagined we would have a fun little family trip in Boise doing some fun stuff before we headed to Emmett, but ha ha! That didn't happen at all. We hardly saw Collin. And we were staying at The Grove... Right in the middle of the busiest part of downtown. The parking under the hotel was always full so I had to pack the kids and whatever else we needed with us down from the parking garage across the street, across Front street, and then clear up to the 13th floor of the hotel. Just to give you an idea. We did have some fun though, swimming with friends, having a super late night chat fest with my buddies, lunch at the park, and on our way back after Emmett we stopped in at a wedding reception of a good family friend's son from our old original Boise family ward where Collin was in the bishopric. That was so fun. And of course we had a lot of fun in Emmett! The Goers have such a big nice house with plenty of room for everyone. We loved chatting with them and the kids had fun. Elan was kind of a poo about sleeping but hey that's traveling with a baby!

Chilling in our hotel room
One other crappy thing about that hotel stay, it is not meant for kids! NO kid channels on the tv. No breakfast (except for expensive room service of course!) small things you don't appreciate about Hotels until they don't have them!

Aw, Gage wanted to "hold" Elan.

Lara and Bill with the miracle baby they helped find his way to our family!

Intrigued/horrified by the MuppetMovie!
