Halloween was fun! I know it's cliche but really holidays just get better and better with a kid! Ashlyn was WAY into it this year. I made a little countdown chain on like October 2 because by then she was already driving me crazy asking 5 times a day if it was Halloween and we could go trick or treating yet.
The day of Halloween was busy and fun. We had my piano teacher friend Sarah and her 2 kids over for a playdate and lunch that morning, then our adoption homestudy renewal that afternoon (we really like our new caseworker, by the way. Sad we won't be working with him for long. But that's for another post!) Then we went to our ward chili and cinnamon roll trunk or treat, then back home for trick or treating. I stayed home to hand out candy, and it was pretty much a non-stop stream of trick or treaters. FUN! I have always wanted to live somewhere that we actually got trick or treaters, we never have before! I ran out of candy in an hour. I didn't even have time to go to the bathroom in between the doorbell ringing! Ashlyn didn't last more than 20 minutes out in the cold trick or treating, and just wanted to get home and eat some of her candy. She actually LOVED helping me hand out the candy. Although she was so freaked out by some of the costumes people had on, she would just stare at them and blindly reach into the candy bowl, and ended up giving out some handfuls of candy! I had to start handing her the individual pieces to put in the kids' bags. It was so funny.
Both Collin and Ashlyn were awarded "best costume" awards!
Here is a shot of the "pirate beads" she had in her hair.
Happy Halloween!
