5K

The Push 5K did happen.... about 6 weeks ago! It was the same day as my Halloween Recital, and the night after our pumpkin party. But we made it! Lindy and I decided to sign up for it late in the summer, and I did train for it about halfway through my training plan before I got sick..... so I wasn't feeling very prepared.
The race was just for moms with joggers--well not exclusively moms, but parents, you know, to be PC. Anyway, I didn't love that we had to pick up our race packets the day-of, no other option. Simply because it meant we had to get there way earlier than I would ever want to, with a kid in tow. Ashlyn started getting pretty antsy as we were having to just hang around at the starting line. Thankfully they did have some fun things--pinwheels and suckers for the kids. Once we got going in the race she was great, and had a good time riding along with us.

Lindy was a SUPER good sport and kept my slow pace, even though she was constantly getting ahead of me, pushing her 2 kids in the double jogger while I struggled with my one! And to fully confess....Collin actually ran along with me, and did end up pushing the jogger the last mile! (ducks head) But I am proud that that was all he had to push it for, and I did run the whole way! ("run" being used very loosely here) It was nice to feel the accomplishment of finishing a race, even if this one was super laid back, wasn't timed, and was just for fun.

Yea! Check out that action shot across the finish line! :)
