So with all the posting about Ashlyn you may think we have forgotten about Lucy. On the contrary! That little dog is definitely still keeping me busy. And in fact, there are days that Lucy provides us much more entertainment than Ashlyn. (it's not that we just have a dog and a kid for entertainment....really.) So I thought I would dedicate this post to Lucy. Although once I uploaded the pictures I realized Ashlyn is in most of them . . .

Lucy was also a bumblebee for Halloween! I thought it would be so cool to have her wear her little costume around all day, and then my students could see her when they came that night. . . yeah it was wishful thinking. In fact, just getting her to keep it on long enough to take a picture proved pretty difficult. Luckily, she is obsessed with food so that is my solution to most Lucy problems: bribe her with food. And it works like 99% of the time too. If you could follow her gaze off to the left of the picture you can tell that I am dangling a treat and making her sit to get it. Am I pure evil??

Then there's her new playmate--Ashlyn. I found the two of them laying like this on the floor, with Ashlyn giggling the other day. So cute. And don't you love how Lucy has absolutely no shame to just lay it all out there, spread eagle! And check out her front paws too.

The chocolate chip bags: I need to explain. Right now Ashlyn is way more into household objects (especially kitchen utensils) than toys, which I figure could be either because she's bored with ALL her toys, or she is interested in being a chef someday. So, after I was telling my mom that Ashlyn's absolute favorite little thing is the wire whisk, Mom reminded me that all the kids in our family used to love to play with an empty chocolate chip bag. Since they're not easy to rip or anything but really crinkly. I happened to be baking the next day so I gave Ash a shot with the chocolate chip bag. She was having a great old time except.... for Lucy! Lucy was super jealous of that cool crinkly bag. She kept stealing it! I seriously was like, "are you kidding, now I have to make you guys share?" Which of course neither of them understands at all. So I had to empty out another chocolate chip bag just for Lucy. That picture above is both of them happily crinkling and chewing on their OWN chocolate chip bags. I have a bad feeling this is just the beginning.

Lucy is generally pretty complacent around Ashlyn--as you can see Ashlyn is smacking her in the face and pulling her hair, and usually Lucy just sits there. Unfortunately I can't say Lucy ALWAYS just sits there because there are times she will fight back! But thankfully they are still on good terms with each other . . . so far.

And then we have lots of classic pictures where there are not only people in the picture, but you can see Lucy causing some sort of trauma in the background. Like this one! I have no idea what that is that she's shredding in the background, but let me assure you it's always fun to pick up 800 tiny shredded pieces of baby wipe, cardboard, paper.... or whatever else Lucy digs out of who-the-heck knows where. I have to admit that sometimes just to keep her busy I will give her something to shred. Like today I gave her the empty paper towel roll.... that bought me like an hour of alone time with Ashlyn. Nice. Except. for. the. mess.

She'll come and just lay right next to Ashlyn like "I'm just minding my own business..." yet obviously Ashlyn sees "giant cuddly moving play thing right next to me" and of course goes right after her. Then Lucy will either sit there and ignore her (which happens less and less the more Ashlyn can move around and chase her!), or sigh a big "humph" and get up and move somewhere else. I just want to say "duh, don't freaking sit there by the baby if you don't want to get your hair pulled!" And then I realize I'm trying to reason with a dog . . .

And last but not least I had to put a picture (again the fabulous spread eagle pose) of seriously Lucy's favorite way to lay. She never ever does this unless she's somehow snuggling with a person. We were really asking for it letting her snuggle on our laps every single day when she was little...because she definitely thinks she's a lap dog. As everyone who has been around her can agree too I'm sure! We don't mind though, and it really is sometimes the only one-on-one attention she gets from either me or Collin all day! And yes I know you are probably thinking "one-on-one with a dog? Get a life." Well I know!! But, Lucy was really our first little baby and she is really a good girl. Hope you have enjoyed this post, especially you, Mom and Dad! I know you love Lucy more than anything!
