4th of July and Camping

We went to Idaho Falls for the 4th....although being the Mormonville it is, everything actually took place on the 3rd. But we froze! It was SO cold. I was not amused, especially because I had a cute summer dress I was planning to wear, and instead I ended up wearing pants and a coat ALL DAY. Yes, I care that much about things like that.
We had fun at our traditional family festivities anyway though. The parade.... I swear gets lamer every year, or maybe I just realize how lame it is more acutely as I get older? either way it seemed to last forever and seemed like they let anyone who could pay the $50 entry fee in!
The fireworks were great also. I don't know about all that "best show west of the Mississippi" stuff but it really is a great show and fun to watch every year.

After all the festivities we headed up to Wildhorse Campground for a few days of camping with a crew of 20 of us!
On Tuesday we drove a LONG way to find a trail to hike that someone had found on a map. I never did find out whose idea it was to do that hike....probably no one wanted to admit it! All but 2 of us headed up the trail to what was supposed to be North Point Lake. But after a while . . . like 2 miles uphill. . . no lake! Most of the teenagers and Collin and I trekked on about a half-mile further, and even though we rounded the face of the mountain we were climbing there was no lake in sight, and the trail kept getting worse and worse. So finally, we decided to head back. It was lame since a lot of the guys had packed all their fishing gear all the way up there! It was a really pretty view though, we were higher than snow!
McKae next to the huge mountain we were opposite

This is the view from the highest point we hiked, and as you can see from where Collin is coming from, we did a good amount of bushwhacking! It was the most randomly marked trail! It was good to go on a big hike though, and I was impressed with how well everyone did--from Andrea and McKae clear up to my old parents! :)
Another view from a high point

Everyone hanging around camp.... I admit we did not take many good pictures but we did all have a lot of fun hanging around camp, singing and playing games. We even did some night games the last night, Collin, me, Megan and Sam even joined in. Fun times!

mm mm!

Roastin some dogs

See how we're all bundled up! The cold weather seemed to follow us wherever we went last week. We all still had a good time though. Most of the guys went river swimming at some point, which I thought was absolutely insane. :)
Aw, what cute brothers I have. The 2 of us looking pretty as ever....

This is my favorite picture, although it is blurry! Mom wore Alex's weird little yetti coat like the whole time. I especially loved it when she was sitting by the fire looking all creepy! ;) just kidding mom.
Thanks for the fun trip guys!

We went to Idaho Falls too for the 4th! Why does it always seem like we are in the same town at the same time but we never even know it? :) Next time you are in Saratoga lets get together!
